How can a college legally be allowed to call itself Dickinson College?
I am considering attending there next year and want to know if I should bother going there. The risk of it being shut down for a vulgar name is possibly high, and I want to know if anyone knows whether it will be closed for profanity of name in the near future.

Thanks for your help. This may help me in deciding where I go to college, and may affect my whole future.
Dickinson will be decidedly shut down and you should avoid going there at all costs. I'm glad I got out when I did, according to current students there is an ongoing investigation regarding the profanity, but the administration has refused all suggestions for a name change thus far.
What is the difference between Dickinson College and Gettysburg College?
I have been accepted to both schools and am very conflicted about which one to choose since they seem so similar. Any advice? What are some differences and distinguishing characteristics?
The women's dorm at Gettysburg was a confederate hospital =D
so, Gettysburg is haunted and Dickinson not so much
How does dickinson college notify of admittance?

Which school is better: Dickinson College or the University of Minnesota Twin Cities?
Now, if you had to pay full price: Dickinson--50k.yr., Minn--23k/yr.

Which would you choose?

By going to Minnesota, would I be put at ANY disadvantage instead of going to Dickinson?
Disadvantage? of course not. Univ of MN is a popular well known school and it costs less. It could help you land some more job opportunities because it is a school that many people have heard about and their academic reputation is great too.

I would choose university of MN because i am a business major and they have a really really really good business school. I kinda think you would be at a slight disadvantage if you went to Dickinson
Where should I go to college Washington and Jefferson, George Washington University, or Dickinson College?
I am a senoir and I keep going back and forth between colleges. Which of these do you think would be the best for a pre-law person with an interest in government. I know D.C. is obviously a great place for politics, but I am getting a lot of money from smaller schools. Idk what to do I've worked really hard to get into a big University but I don't know if financially it is worth it. Any advice would be great.
If you plan on going to law school do NOT do pre law. The great majority of law schools prefer that you avoid all pre law and "law" related courses in undergrad. I would not make pre law programs the decisive factor in deciding which school to attend.
Is it hard to get into fairleigh dickinson college?
my gpa is like a 1.9 or 2.0...and i still need to take the sats...also does anyone know the majority of students that go their race wise..like is it mostly white people, black people etc..and this question might be a little weird but does anyone know about the party life their?
With that GPA, admission isn't likely unless there's something outstanding to counter is. The average high school GPA of those accepted is 3.05.

In terms of race and ethnicity, it looks like a good mix:
# American Indian or Alaskan Native: 0.07%
# Asian: 3.92%
# African-American: 8.36%
# Hispanic: 15.78%
# Caucasian: 20.75%
# Race/ Ethnicity Unknown: 7.83%
# International: 4.05%

In terms of party life--not a weird question, but not something Princeton Review covers. I suspect it's not going to matter. Speaking honestly without the intention of being cruel, I doubt they'd accept you, and if they did, if you're a party person rather than the sort of student they want, you'll probably wash out your freshman year.

You're a good candidate for community college, where you will spend far less money acquiring credits you can transfer and study habits you'll need for a four-year college diploma.

I'm currently enrolling as a freshmen to Dickinson College. What do i need in a laptop computer?
ex.) memory, disk drive, etc.
You won't NEED many thing specifically for school, but there are some things you'll want to have in a laptop in general.

MS Office is a must-have, period. Your new computer will come with a trial version, but you'll need to either pay to extend that version, or buy your own. It's cheaper if you buy the student version of Office; it's less expensive, exactly the same as the standard version, and only requires student ID to purchase at most computer stores (I didn't even have to show that). Office will include email, Word and Powerpoint, all of which you will want in freshman classes.

Avoid a Celeron processor; it's cheaper, but also a piece of junk, and you'll find yourself disappointed and wanting to upgrade before long. An Athlon processor is excellent, and more affordable than a Pentium processor (which is also excellent, just more expensive).

Now that they all come with Windows Vista, I recommend at least 1g of memory; less than that, and you may see some performance issues. However, if you find a good deal on one with only 512mb of memory, you could upgrade later.

If you're not planning to use the laptop for video games much, you should go for a small one; the weights in pounds may not seem to vary much, but believe me, you'll feel every pound lugging it around campus. Mine is a 17 inch widescreen (big and heavy), because I also game with it, and while I don't regret getting it, I do envy the people with the nice small ones.

The hard drive size isn't too important; you'll have more room than you need with just about any of them.

Make sure that it comes with wireless capability (most do now), or buy a wireless card (about $50). Most schools have wireless ability around campus, and it makes it soooo much easier to work at school when you have your own access to the school's wireless.

Also, you want several USB ports; most will have at least 3, which should be fine. Pick up a flash drive as well, so that you can put papers and persentations on it and take them to class, a printer, or other students (they start at about $15).

You won't really need these for school, but it's always a good idea to get a writable DVD drive, and they'll all come with writable CD drives. Don't spend extra on it if you don't need it, but most will come with writable DVD drives standard now. Up to you if you want it or not.

Overall, you won't need an expensive laptop. Skip past the cheap ones with Celeron processors at all costs, and go from there. We're getting our daughter one for her 16th birthday, and we're finding them starting from $550 for Athlon processors with 1g of memory.
Dickinson College or University of California; Irvine?
I just got accepted to both and some other one, but i'm down to these two. By the way I'm undecided on my major, and is it hard to get a job with a BA/BS from these institutions after graduation?

Thanks In advance.
I would go with UC because of itsw MUCH BETTER academic reputation. It isnt't hard if you're willing to work.
